If you support Trump you should read this book. The stories filling these pages are amazing and McRaven is a brilliant story-teller, while there are also life lessons in each of these stories. I am proud to say I know the author, went to school with him, and am so impressed by all the things he accomplished with so many brave men at his side.
Excellent book, covering many different episodes in the recent military history of the USA. I loved the book and have gained a new appreciation for our military. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought this book was a sequel to Forrest Gump! In reference to the Burnhams’ weakened physical condition, a colleague of McRaven’s said, “They’re missionaries, for God’s sake, not Navy SEALs.” And McRaven replied, “They may not be SEALs, but what I do know is that their faith is strong.” When after a bad parachute accident McRaven stoically refused pain medication, he writes that “the imposing face of Doc Gould popped back into view. I have read accounts of the mission to capture/kill Osama bin Laden, but never from McRaven's side--as the master planner he was responsible for the mission's development and overseeing the operation through the command center. But this book goes into the behind-the-scenes episodes of many things I'd only read about in the news and seen in movies.
